Open Question: I qualified for the 2011 National Merit Scholarship Program, and can refer myself to 2 colleges... question? This service gives me "the opportunity to be referred to two colleges / universities" of my choice. I just want to know if these is significant, or if colleges actually consider these references. Currently I am looking at referring myself to (I can only chose 2): -Stanford University (I'm not sure if Stanford will care) -University of California, Berkeley -John Hopkins University in Maryland -Georgetown University in Washing D.C. -University of California, Los Angeles -Cornell University -Columbia University I plan on applying to all of the above. My actual SAT score is 2240, but my PSAT is 2040. I have a 4.4 average GPA from my freshman to my junior (Current) year. I am ASB President and sophomore/junior class president. Also, I am currently the principle cellist of my youth orchestra, and am organizing a fundraiser at my school to raise $5000+ for children with AIDS/HIV in Africa. Please let me know where you think being referred to would have greatest impact and where you think my chances of being admitted into these schools would improve with this program. Thanks in advance, Madeline Open Question: Flight prices have risen will they go down?I am looking to go from syracuse ny to los angeles sometime in august for a week. Open Question: Which one would you want to operate on?FIVE Surgeons Five surgeons from big cities are discussing who makes the best patients to operate on. The first surgeon, from New York , says, "I like to see accountants on my operating table because when you open them up, everything inside is numbered." The second, from Chicago , responds, "Yeah, but you should try electricians! Everything inside them is color coded." The third surgeon, from Dallas , says, "No, I really think librarians are the best, everything inside them is in alphabetical order." The fourth surgeon, from Los Angeles chimes in: "You know, I like construction workers. Those guys always understand when you have a few parts left over." But the fifth surgeon, from Washington DC, shut them all up when he observed: "You're all wrong. Politicians are the easiest to operate on. There's no guts, no heart, no balls, no brains, and no spine. Plus, the head and the ass are interchangeable." More Recent Articles
