Open Question: Are there any food festivals in los angeles this summer?Open Question: Ticket given to vehicle for registration in Los Angeles...?I got a ticket back in January 2010 for expired registration. Really, I paid my registration when it was due in September 2009. So the registration is paid off, all I need to do is pass the smog test. I went and it failed. It passed emissions, the only problems are the PCV hose is cracked, EGR valve is missing, and there is a gas leak somewhere in the vehicle. And I went in with the check engine light on. Yes, I know, you're not supposed to do that. Anyway, I am curious as this is only a fix it ticket, what happens if I just sell the vehicle. Am I still responsible for the ticket given? Or does that go to the next person/party who buys the vehicle? It's a 2003 Dodge Stratus if that helps any. Also I am curious, will they use the on board computer when they perform a second smog test? (I plan on going to another smog checking station) I mean, will they plug that computer plug to check all the problems on the car? I think that this is the only way they found out about the gas leak. I have a handheld computer thing that can disable that check engine light so I'm wondering if I do that, will they still be able to tell that there's a gas leak somewhere. Thank you. Open Question: Is it fair to compare Arizona immigration bill with Nazi Germany?Cardinal Mahony compares Arizona immigration bill to Nazism, Communism Cardinal Roger Mahony of Los Angeles has offered strong criticism of a measure passed by the Arizona legislature that would require police to arrest suspected illegal immigrants who are unable to provide documentation. The bill, if signed into law, would also make it illegal to hire day laborers off the street and to transport an illegal immigrant. "The Arizona legislature just passed the country's most retrogressive, mean-spirited, and useless anti-immigrant law [SB 1070, awaiting the expected signature of Gov. Jan Brewer]," Cardinal Mahony wrote on April 18. "The tragedy of the law is its totally flawed reasoning: that immigrants come to our country to rob, plunder, and consume public resources." "The law is wrongly assuming that Arizona residents, including local law enforcement personnel, will now shift their total attention to guessing which Latino-looking or foreign-looking person may or may not have proper documents," he added. "I can't imagine Arizonans now reverting to German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques whereby people are required to turn one another in to the authorities on any suspicion of documentation." Although the measure would require police to ask for documents if there is a "reasonable suspicion" that a person is an illegal immigrant, The Los Angeles Timesnoted that the bill "would not require people to report suspected illegal immigrants to authorities, as [Cardinal] Mahony intimated." http://www.catholicculture.org/news/headlines/index.cfm?storyid=6079 Open Question: flight prices have risen will they go down?I am looking to go from syracuse ny to los angeles sometime in august for a week. Open Question: What is the job market like for entry-level HVAC & ELECTRICIAN TECHS in Los Angeles Ca?Open Question: are conservatives hypocrites?"In a Sunday post on his blog, Los Angeles archbishop Roger Mahony likened the potential law to "German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques whereby people are required to turn one another in to the authorities." and gives more government acces to the government not to mention power to police in a Very racially separate state. now isn't this what conservatives as well as teapartyers are against everything they believe just got thrown out the window if its for their benefit? Open Question: Your opinion Arizona State University 9 activists arrested after they chained themselves to a door?PHOENIX – Protests continued at the state capitol Tuesday as a controversial immigration bill waits on Arizona Governor Jan Brewer's desk. Arizona senators passed the sweeping bill Monday that is intended to ramp up law enforcement efforts in Arizona. Tuesday morning, nine Arizona State University students were arrested after they chained themselves to a door near the legislative wing of the Capitol. The chains were cut by officers and the students were arrested and taken to the Maricopa County Jail. Attorney Antonio Bustamante, who represents one of the students arrested, says the students chose to chain themselves to the Capitol doors to "block the bigotry that was emanating from the Legislature" and send a message to Gov. Jan Brewer. The bill passed on Monday by a vote of 17-11. "I'm in a celebratory nature, I'm going out to have a drink," said Kathryn Kobor, a supporter of Senate Bill 1070. Passage sends the bill to Gov. Jan Brewer, who has not taken a position on the measure championed by fellow Republicans and already signed by the House. According to Brewer's spokesperson, she now has until 5 p.m. Saturday to act on the bill. Brewer can sign the bill, veto it or do nothing, which would still allow the bill to become law. "It's morally inconsiderate and not right. It's not right," said Sonnia Whiteman, an opponent of SB 1070. It appears some of the nation's prominent religious leaders would agree with Whiteman. In a Sunday post on his blog, Los Angeles archbishop Roger Mahony likened the potential law to "German Nazi and Russian Communist techniques whereby people are required to turn one another in to the authorities." Though Governor Brewer has yet to speak out about the bill, she now has five days to sign the bill into law or veto it, sending it back to the legislature. Opponents of the Senate Bill 1070 held a vigil outside the State Capitol during the lunch-hour Monday, showing solidarity in their hope for her veto. http://www.abc15.com/content/news/phoenixmetro/central/story/Protests-begin-as-immigration-bill-waits-on/VNapFEWhCUKmnwrI1RAh3Q.cspx?rss=1730 Evelyn j i thought we have freedom of speech University students were arrested after they chained themselves to a door near the legislative wing of the Capitol- this freedom of speech does not include students being allowed chained themselves to a door and blocking entry for those not interested in what they are doing out there.
