Open Question: Are booby traps always illegal?

My next door neighbor in Los Angeles was always having his car broken into. He hung some fish hooks from some nearly invisible clear line from a little board and put it above the inside of the car door so anyone who wasn't authorized to enter late at night got a face full of these nasty little three pronged hooks. The cops told him he could be sued? Are booby traps always illegal?

Open Question: Where Can I have Large Pictures Scanned?

I'm looking for a place that scans large artwork. It can't be fed into a scanner. It has to be a large flat bed. The largest one is 19x14. Does anyone know of a place that will do that in Los Angeles?

Open Question: What will Los Angeles and other American cities look like in 20 years?

What will happen to the suburbs and single-family home neighborhoods, existing businesses, existing streets, freeways, existing supermarkets, shopping centers, etc. and what will be the primary form of transportation? Is this the day when automobile use ends worldwide and gets replaced by walking, biking, and mass transit? Are all cities in the US and worldwide like New York, San Francisco and other cities off limits to cars?
