Open Question: Has illegal immigration changed the landscape of America? Does the pot still melt?Historically, the analogy has been used that the USA is a melting pot. It consists of beautiful people from all around the world that for the most part assimilate into American life. Yet, when I am in Los Angeles I no longer feel like the USA is a melting pot. In fact, I don't feel like I'm in the USA when I'm in Los Angeles....a santuary city for illegal immigrants. I feel like I'm in Mexico. Does there come a point where the pot is not melting anymore? I feel like it stopped melting in Los Angeles....like a bunch of the same ingredients kept being poured in and it's bringing the rest of the pot to a warm simmer instead of a melt.......It's almost like it's an entirely seperate pot on its own. Does anybody else notice this in the areas where they live? It's also happening in Santa Ana, Ca and Costa, Ca. IM Everywhere U Want 2 B- I have to say that you're wrong in assuming I don't understand what a melting pot is. I would also say that some points you make about what a melting pot is are correct. I would also say that when people come to the USA, neglect to assimilate, stick with their own, congregate in the millions (Los Angeles), and expect the USA to accomodate them instead of becoming a part of America, the pot is not melting. I've tried a burrito, now come try English and paying taxes. Open Question: When do the California State University Academic Quarters Start?I am out of state, and my Undergraduate school uses the traditional semesters, so when I see the California State University Quarter System, it confuses me. Despite looking throughout calstate.edu, I cannot find a calendar or page that tells when the Winter, Summer, Spring, and Fall quarters start. Can somebody point me to a calendar that shows when the terms start? If it is based on which campus, I want to go to the Los Angeles Campus, and take a masters degree in education. Open Question: I've seen on TV, that there are events where you can pitch investors, on different new business concepts..?I have a "working" concept, for a media agency, but I am seeking an investor to help fund the initial phase, and I know I have seen on TV where different representatives of invest firms or angel investors who sit an audience setting, and here out (pitches) on different start ups, and concepts. I know Orange County (Southern California) are big on these, but I'm in Los Angeles, and would like to participate in "pitching" my media agency, working "concept".
