Open Question: Is the US REALLY ready for high-speed rail?

I think not. Don't get me wrong, I like trains. I got especially fond of them when I was stationed in Germany, in the Army. But let's examine Amtrak. Of the 48 contiguous states, there are 2 with no service at all (South Dakota and Wyoming). Also, there are at least 3 (Tennessee, Kentucky, and Delaware) with just enough stops to count on one hand. And there are several good-sized cities with no train service. Nashville, Louisville, Columbus, and Las Vegas come to mind right away. And in the city pairs frequently mentioned as candidates for HSTs, it's a fair bet that at least one city in each set has no public transportation to speak of. Such pairings as Detroit and Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles, and Los Angeles and Las Vegas come to mind. My point is, before we spend billions on building high-speed lines, we should re-establish a wider passenger network. How about direct service from Chicago to Miami, via Atlanta, for example? Maybe this could meet with sections from Detroit and Cleveland along the way. I'm sure people can think of some other gaps which need filling.

Open Question: Why do most hispanics hate black people?

I'm a bisexual black girl and I'm mostly attracted to latinos and latinas and I thought we were cool because we were both "colored" but now I guess not. I have a new gf who is hispanic and now I'm trying to figure out if I'm in danger or not by dating her or if I can even trust my hispanic friends. read this article and you will know why. By Kristi Huan of Associated Press News Update: A Latino street gang waged a racist campaign to eliminate black people from a Southern California city through attempted murders and other crimes, according to federal racketeering indictments unsealed Thursday. The gangs from L.A. plan to terrorize the Bronx and Staten Island neighborhoods in New York. Five indictments charged a total of 147 members and associates of the Varrio Hawaiian Gardens gang, and federal and local agencies arrested 63 of them by early Thursday, U.S. Attorney Thomas P. O'Brien said at a news conference. He called it "the largest gang takedown in United States history and due to the gang's rebellion, many gangs soon plan to riot and attack law enforcement and trash the neighborhoods similar to the Rodney King episode years ago" but did not elaborate. The indictments detail attempted murder, kidnapping, firearms, arsons, carjackings, narcotics and other charges related to attacks by the gang, which is predominantly Latino and mainly operates in Hawaiian Gardens, a city of about 15,000 in southeastern Los Angeles County. "(Varrio Hawaiian Gardens) gang members take pride in their racism and often refer to the VHG Gang as the `Hate Gang,"' the main indictment states. "VHG gang members have expressed a desire to rid the city of Hawaiian Gardens of all African-Americans and have engaged in a systematic effort to achieve that result by perpetrating crimes against African-Americans because they are similar to the MS-13s and they plan to fight the 18th Street Mexican Mafia too and trash the suburban neighborhoods with great violence just like the Rodney King riots." The indictment alleges a string of attacks on black residents, including a shooting into a home with eight people inside, a fire set in a bedroom and a carjacking of an elderly black woman outside in the parking lot. The indictment does not say if anyone was hit. In another instance, two gang members allegedly chased a black man, yelled a racist epithet at him and then beat him with a garden rake. The same man was later repeatedly stabbed by two gang members, according to the indictment, which charges them with his attempted murder. According to 2000 census data, the latest available, Hawaiian Gardens was roughly 73 percent Hispanic and 4 percent black. The indictments mark at least the second time in less than two years that federal authorities have accused Latino gang members of attacking black residents because of their race. Local officials have tried to downplay racial tensions. The investigation of the Varrio Hawaiian Gardens gang began in June 2005 after the murder of Los Angeles County sheriff's Deputy Luis Gerardo "Jerry" Ortiz. Jose Luis Orozco, a member of the gang, was sentenced to death in 2007 for the killing. Ortiz, 35, died as he searched for Orozco, who had shot and wounded a man while he did yard work. Orozco was later found guilty of attempted murder in that case. "Following the murder of Deputy Ortiz, the Sheriff's Department sought federal and local assistance to help destroy the Hawaiian Gardens gang," O'Brien said.

Open Question: What friends is your honest opinion on this Americans fed up with illegal aliens serious answers only?

This letter responds to Kenneth Hudson's Feb. 3 letter to the editor headlined, "Hispanics illegally in U.S. are problem." His letter was written in response to a letter to the editor from Victor Morales, published Jan. 18 and headlined, "Sometimes adjustment needed in reading lens." First, I see nothing wrong with Hudson's views, but I would not have apologized by stating "forgive us" — even though it was probably meant tongue-in-cheek. We owe these gate-crashing, law-breaking illegals nothing but a trip back to where they came from, post-haste. A large majority of Americans are fed up with illegal aliens sneaking across our borders to take jobs from American citizens. I refer to all illegals not just Hispanics; however Hispanic illegals are the biggest cohort. Let's be honest — they are criminals. They have eluded U.S. government screening systems set up at the border to stop undesirable criminals, rapists and murderers from coming into our country. Do not listen to bleeding hearts who would have us think that we're spewing hate and discrimination for stating facts. If these bleeding hearts had the best interests of this great country at heart, they would change their tune. I happen to love my country very much; it disgusts me to see those among us who would foolishly allow illegals to simply walk in and take over because it is the easy thing to do. Thousands have given their lives to preserve this hallowed ground, and the democratic, representative republic that thrives with it. When illegal Hispanics protest in the streets they do not appear even to have the common decency or courtesy to carry the American flag. Instead, a majority carry the Mexican flag. I don't think that shows very good sense or respect. They shove their foreign flag in our face and demand citizenship. Additionally their leaders' speeches do not seek forgiveness, but show the same arrogance displayed by crashing our sovereign border. For those of us who follow church doctrine, please remember this is a political and legal matter. This is where we should recognize separation of church and state. The laws are clear, we should encourage our authorities to enforce the laws and back them up when they do. If anyone has questions about whether illegals endanger the streets, there is a Hispanic gang in Los Angeles that authorities believe has a membership of over 50,000, made up primarily of illegal Hispanics. They are big on drug trafficking and killing those who get in their way. The area is so dangerous and controlled that mail carriers, meter readers, and police (even pizza delivery) do not dare enter onto their turf. If you doubt this, please pay a visit to Crew Street next time you are in Los Angeles. An interesting and well documented book I read by author Michelle Malkin, who also appears on talk shows, stated that early this decade North Carolina gave out 400,000 drivers' licenses to people here illegally so they would have a way to go back and forth to work. That only made it easier for them to take more jobs away from North Carolina citizens. We were instructed at one point in time that we should not call those here illegally "illegal aliens?" Why not? Those who live in a country of which they are not a citizen, are known as "aliens." This was an attempt by Hispanic leadership to brainwash us into believing this is a derogatory label. I, too, believe as Hudson does that Hispanic legal immigrants, naturalized Hispanics and American-born Hispanic citizens who support the unlawful efforts of illegals to demand rights to which they are not entitled and/or harbor those here illegally run the risk of hurting their Hispanic community. Many Hispanic illegals are getting a free ride in our colleges when they have not earned that right. The phrase, "They're just doing jobs nobody else will," is nothing more than a cliché for those who cannot find any reasonable or justifiable basis on which to argue their unreasonable position on the question of illegal aliens. Most of us are aware that the remedy for the illegal alien invasion is harsh — "round them up and send them home." But then every murder, rape or assault committed by someone here illegally is harsh and even more unjustified as they should not have been in the country in the first place. The American citizen who is out of work and finds jobs filled by those here illegally has a harsh reality to face as well. There are those who would have us all think all this is a matter of racial discrimination. It is not! All ethnicities or races illegally in this country should be handled in the same manner. Many Hispanics have joined the military and will earn their citizenship as the law allows. They are to be congratulated for their service to their new country; they have earned our respect. God bless America, the greatest country on Earth. Please read all of this before replying and if you encounter any hardship from reading by all means skip this ques
