Open Question: how much is a library book cost when you lose it?

I lost an East of Eden paperback few days ago. I remember it be very old, yellow, and worn-out. There were also like 15 other East of Eden books on the shelf when I borrowed it. The book belongs to the Central Library in Los Angeles. How much do you think the book may cost?

Open Question: Urgent: I need tire chains for Yosemite?!?

I don't know for SURE if I will need it (changes are I will) even though I have M+S tires (snow resistant - durable to drive in the snow until a sign blatantly says to put on my tire chains. My problem is I don't have any and it's 1:33 AM, surely all auto-pair shops are closed? But my question is, coming from Los Angeles, do you think that on the drive to Yosemite, some auto-pair shops will be open? I mean it would make sense since there would be people, like us, who would need tire chains ASAP... right?
