Des Moines to Los Angeles: Open Question: does this sound to cliche?!? and more...

ell me what you think, i havent got the whole story planned out, just the beginning part tho, ill just see where it goes ;) but please go easy on me im a beginner :) ok so i'm making it about a teenage girl, who just moved from Los Angeles, to a small town in alaska, and her dad just died a couple months before, and they are having a really tough time on money right now, and the mom is working 2 jobs and the girl is about 15 and feels really out of place at her new school because the kids are so different and its way different from L.A. so yeah thats all i have so far but later she meets a guy and stuff so if you have any suggestions, or any ideas on what town to have her in,in alaska because im not sure which one, i want a really small one, thanks! oh and i want the town to be VERY VERY POOR Additional Details well, when they lived in LA, they were not devorced, they were actually pretty "well off" and the dad died in a plane crash (the dad was a co pilot) and the family was left poor, and was forced to move, anyways, the guy she meets is a kind of "bad boy" but she is everything to him so he changes for her and yeah. :) its notgonna be anything like twilight
