Open Question: .243 or .30-30 on Wild Boar? and more... Open Question: .243 or .30-30 on Wild Boar?I inherited both of my centerfire rifles. One is a Sears Model 53 (Winchester Model 70) in .243 with a 4x Scope. The other is a Sears Ted Williams .30-30. (My Dad REALLY liked Sears). Everything my Dad had regarding hunting was in this big wooden chest he had made for him in the Army. It had a 3x scope in it, but I could never quite figure out what for. Well, wrapped up in old newspaper and rubber bands so old they dissolved into rubber stains, was a side mount for the .30-30, with the screws (wrapped in another piece of paper, wrapped in masking tape) . I think I can convince a guy at my sportman's club to mount the scope for me for nothing. All the gunsmiths in Los Angeles have fled. The only gunsmith I know of is way over in the valley, is never open, and charges an arm and a leg to mount scopes. Anyway, now I can actually use the .30-30 for hunting (I suck with open sights). In California, wild boar is open year round. I have got a few places to hunt, according to people I have spoken to, nearby in the Los Padres National forest. Would I be better off with a .243 with a 4x scope, or a .30-30 with a 3x scope? For most people, a .243 is a longer range rifle, but I am not that good a shot. I figure anything past 125 yards and moving is pretty safe from me. I am leaning towards the .30-30. Also, what ammunition would I use? 150 grain? 170 grain? Or should I splurge and mail order some LeveRevolution .30-30 Ammo? I still have about four and a half boxes of (old) Ted Williams 170 grain ammunition my father left me. Open Question: math Help Please.........?Two planes A and B can each fly through still air at 700 mph. The distance from Paris to Los Angeles is 5000 miles. Wind blows from Los Angeles towards Paris at a speed of 100 mph. Plane A leaves Paris at noon flying towards Los Angeles. Plane B departs Los Angeles 1 hour later to fly to Paris. How far from Los Angeles are the two planes when they pass each other? Open Question: Are these signs that Jesus is coming?I mean first we have the biggest depression since the Great Depression, then we have the deadly H1N1 virus, then we have an earthquake in Haiti, then an earthquake in Chile? We still do not know about the tsunami coming over Los Angeles... What do you think? More Recent Articles
